In 1975, after nearly 20 years of field experience with a local electrical contractor and completion of the
General Electric Company's Advanced Electrical Training Program, Larry Whetstone co-founded Whetstone Electric, Inc. with
his wife, Patricia.
In 2002,
Larry accepted a position with the City of Columbia City as Superintendent of the Electrical Department. At that time, Patricia
became the majority shareholder of Whetstone Electric, Inc., making it one of the first woman owned construction businesses
in the area. As Chief Executive Officer, she oversees all aspects of the business
including development, financing, marketing, human resources, employee management, and administrative affairs.
After a lifelong exposure to electrical construction and administrative procedures, Chad Whetstone joined the
family business full-time in 1985, and advanced to the position of President in 2002.
He holds an Allen County Supervisor License and a City of Auburn Master Electrician License. He is trained in Capacitors and Metering, Energy Management, Power Distribution, and Industrial Control
Wiring. He is actively involved in all aspects of the business including corporate development and financing, marketing, human
resources, employee management, project management supervision, and estimating.
Whetstone Electric, Inc. specializes in industrial and
commercial construction and design-build. We are a merit shop and use our own forces and equipment for all work performed,
with the exception of programming and testing of Specialty Systems. We take great pride in the fact that we have completed
each project we have worked on in a timely manner and with quality workmanship.
